Rafael Araneda’s adopted son asks him why he’s different from his brother and gets a tender answer

Rafael Araneda rarely spoke about the adoption of his son Benjamín, who became part of the family he formed with Marcela Vacarezza and their children: Vicente, Florencia and Martina.

In September 2020, the Enamortamos USA host announced that, after two years of legal proceedings, the baby boy was finally a member of his tribe.

Rafael Araneda remembers how he met Benjamín

The Chilean was invited to show Desiguales, which can be seen Monday through Friday at 2P/1C on Univisionand she said the moment she saw the baby for the first time.

Rafael Araneda recalled that, together with his partner and Florencia, he went to a “home for abandoned children” he knew.

“My wife (yells me), I go over there and she’s like, ‘Look at all these swings walking in.’ And I come in down a long hallway full of cribs, little kids, babies,” he explained in his April 1 appearance.

“And I almost get to the bottom and I see this great thing with giant eyes, a smile. He threw himself into my arms, I hugged him and I felt electric, I felt a burst of energy that I had never felt before,” she said.

The driver stated that his wife experienced this sensation: “I turn around and Marcela tells me ‘the same thing happened to me.’

“We were shocked. This is the truth. We fell in love. He came to meet us in our lives. “He chose us,” she said of “Benji,” as she affectionately calls him.

How does Rafael Araneda explain to Benjamín that he is adopted?

At almost 6 years old for Benjamín, Rafael Araneda talked to him about the fact that he is not his or Marcela’s biological son, but rather that he was legally taken.

“He’s called every day in different ways,” the Univision affiliate said. “He’s too young to get all the information.”

The couple is being consulted on this matter by a “psychiatrist”: “He says that deep down we should talk about adoption every day.”

“Speak of him who is the chosen one, so that tomorrow is not a strange word, but rather part of his vocabulary,” he said.

“That which is unique, that which is different. That he should be proudly black, proudly Haitian-Chilean. And that all this talk should be done at home, so that nothing surprises the child tomorrow,” he added.

Rafael explained that ‘Benjita’ has expressed concerns to him: “He says to me, ‘Dad, why do I have hair like that and Vicente has orange hair?’ And I say to him “because you are beautiful, because you are unique”.

In 2022, the communicator shared with People en Español that his son “has always been Araneda Vacarezza, beyond what his birth certificate could say.”
