A few hours ago, 40-year-old Prince William sent a letter to the winners of the prestigious Diana Award. Since 1999, the award has been given to young people between the ages of 9 and 25 for outstanding service in the public and humanitarian fields. The Duke traditionally congratulated the young winners and admired their achievements.
Congratulations on receiving the Diana Award! You are part of an inspiring generation of young people who are changing the world for the better. I admire your achievements. Your stories are wonderful. Many of you are facing challenges during these difficult times, but you are tirelessly tearing down barriers to a better future for all of us,” he wrote.
In a letter written in royal type on Kensington Palace letterhead, Prince William fondly remembered his late mother and one of the most colorful figures in the British monarchy.
You are the epitome of my mother’s legacy and I know she would be very proud of all of you. I believe there is no better way to celebrate her life and work than by honoring the incredible people who dedicate so much of their time and effort to helping others.
The awards ceremony will take place today. The organizers will award more than 180 young innovators and philanthropists from 29 countries, including the USA, where 20 laureates came from this year.
