A spokesperson for Warner Bros. Discovery revealed that the HBO Max platform will not receive new original designs in most of Europe.
According to a press release on Monday (7/4), the cancellation is part of Warner Bros. Discovery’s content review to meet a $ 3 billion cost savings goal.
However, the decision to “remove a limited amount of original programming from HBO Max” does not affect shows already in production. The approved projects will be evaluated individually.
The statement also states that the company will not produce works in the Nordic countries (such as Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland), Central Europe, the Netherlands and Turkey.
On the other hand, the new Warner intends to conquer the French cinema market, in addition to maintaining the Spanish attractions, which for HBO Max are the most profitable in all of Europe.
The recent merger of the WarnerMedia and Discovery groups led to the end of the production of several projects, such as “Expresso do Amanhã”. The company also announced that TNT and TBS channels would no longer produce scripted content.
It is worth mentioning that the newly formed conglomerate, managed by CEO David Zaslav, inherited a $ 55 billion debt from WarnerMedia, the main reason for the end of investments.
