Former employee of Caetano Veloso and Paula Lavigne denies theft and says she was ‘humiliated’ by her former boss

Paula’s defense claimed that what is happening is “a strategy of telling lies to obtain the judgment of the Internet court”

Housekeeper Edna Santos, 52, who is suing former boss Paula Lavigne, wife of singer Caetano Veloso, has denied theft charges against her Uol and described the 22 years he spent at Paula’s side as “humiliating”. Edna was fired for “breach of trust” (understand below).

According to what she told the site, she started working at Paula’s house as a housekeeper and, over the years, she became a housekeeper. In 2020, Edna was hired by the couple’s production company, but she continued with duties focused on Paula and Caetano’s home and life.

According to Edna there were many years of dedication, but it was not recognized by “Dona Paula”. According to former employee Paula she “is a very capricious person”. “She fluctuated a lot. I heard from people that without me the house didn’t work, but daily life with her was very difficult, so I questioned myself. I told her that she didn’t need to be so harsh and it was so difficult for me recognize her as the boss, but she humiliated me,” he told the Uol.

According to Edna, Paula spoke derogatorily about her body, the size of her hair, nails and eyelashes and referred to her with slurs. She also said she was constantly told that she was “incompetent” and that she would receive a pay cut because of “mistakes.”

Edna said things got worse after $15,000 disappeared from Paula’s closet before an international trip. She said she had been identified as a suspect, but she asked her former boss to listen to anyone who might have entered her place. An investigation by experts and lawyers was conducted during the trip, and upon her return, Edna noticed that her former boss had changed his behavior towards her and was rude. During this time, the stolen value amounted to $40,000.

According to the former housekeeper, of her own free will, she printed all her bank statements and decided to give them to Paula, who did not want to see them.

Edna also said that, on May 3, Paula took Edna’s cell phone, which was used for work but had also become personal, asked for the device’s password and asked an employee to back it up and remove the identification facial. During this time, she said she was forced to isolate herself in a room.

“Afterwards he told me: ‘Now you can work’. How can I work? I couldn’t stand, I was shaking. I have a high blood pressure problem and the blood pressure started to rise, I couldn’t breathe and I was in a state of panic. , completely panicked, I couldn’t speak, I was just crying, I thought I was dying. I went to the hospital, the doctor asked me what happened and I said it was my boss who was putting a lot of pressure on me,” he said. Edna.

On May 5, Edna offered to train another person for her role and leave the house when everything was working well, which was accepted by Paula. The next day, while Edna was eating lunch, Paula played an audio of Edna showing off her house drinks to her friends.

To the Uol, the former employee said it was a joke, that he never took drinks out of the apartment. At that moment Paula wanted Edna to sign the resignation letter, but she refused. The former boss was reportedly angry and kicked her out of the house.

“I don’t hate Paula. I just feel very sad that it all ended this way,” he said. “I’m not afraid of a police investigation, because I’m an honest person. But I’m not afraid of a police investigation that’s fair, that doesn’t hold anything against me. I’ve bowed my head to this for 22 years. ” years, but this is not a humiliation like the things he said to me, to make me feel bad. Now he has mocked my honor.

Other side

Through her lawyer, Simone Kamenetz, Paula defended herself against the former employee’s accusations. In a note sent to Uolthe defense stated that what “is happening is a strategy adopted, outside of the pleadings, where this discussion should be limited, to use the media to tell lies against Paula Lavigne and Caetano Veloso who are seeking trial at the Internet court, where evidence and truth do not count, but only fallacious narratives, which irreversibly perpetuate this rhetoric on millions of Internet pages.”

Additionally, he denied that Paula accused the former employee of stealing the deposited dollars. “This accusation is unfounded, as demonstrated by the statements made during the police investigation. Apparently, this narrative is being used as a smokescreen to divert attention from what was actually the subject of the dismissal for just cause and which is – and will, so far as remains to be demonstrated, amply demonstrated in the documents.”

“Paula is very well liked by her employees and former employees. These employees stay with her for 20, 30 years, because they are treated well. Paula takes care of everyone and helps many people. A relationship like this, which lasts so long. For many years , also has its incursions, but calling it abuse is surreal, especially considering everything the couple did for the former employee and his family,” added Simone Kamenetz.
