Known for his performances in Call me by your name AND Death on the Nile, Armie Hammer has made one of its rare appearances since it has existed accused of cannibalism and abuse in 2021. “No matter what people say, I’m at a point in my life now where I’m grateful for everything. I learned to accept and deal with what was happening. It looked like a hurricane,” the actor said.

For Hammer at that moment it was important to approach the situation as a learning experience, and not as something destructive. He also admitted that not even the affection of the fans was enough to improve the situation.

“Even with everything they said, I’m grateful for everything. I didn’t feel good at that time in my life. It was a black hole, regardless of the praise from the fans. I looked at it from the side where I could either let this destroy me or I would learn from it. But it was horrible. I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy,” she said.

The actor was still outraged by the accusation of cannibalism and admitted that today he views the situation with some humor: “Accusations that I was a cannibal. Now I look at it with a certain detachment and think: ‘how funny’. They called me a cannibal and everyone believed it. It was bizarre.”

As Hammer said during the podcast conversation, his life completely changed after the accusations. According to him, many friends left him as soon as the allegations came to light.

“It’s like a bomb went off in my life. He killed me, he killed my ego and all the people around me who I thought were friends but weren’t. In an instant these people disappeared,” she added.

In fact, the actor’s life has also changed on a professional level. After the accusations, Hammer no longer acted in Hollywood productions and was seen living in the Cayman Islands.

Accusations

Armie Hammer saw his career collapse in January 2021, after private messages in which he confessed to being a cannibal were leaked on social media. Two months later, he was reported by an ex-girlfriend for rape and sexual assault. As the story went viral, other women revealed conversations with the actor about fetishes involving cannibalism, abuse and rape.

In total, the American was accused separately by three women of sexual abuse. The case was handled at the Los Angeles police station, but closed due to lack of evidence, according to Tiffiny Blacknell, the district’s communications director: “It was impossible to concretely prove the allegations.”

“Cases of sexual assault are sometimes difficult to prove, which is why we put our most experienced prosecutors to work. In this particular case, our prosecutors carried out a detailed examination but determined that, at that time, there was no was sufficient evidence to charge Mr. Martello for the crime,” Tiffiny added.

Relationships and abuse

Elizabeth Chambers, 41, a businesswoman who divorced Armie Hammer in 2021, has spoken out about the end of her nearly decade-long relationship with him and the disappointment she suffered after the allegations. “I discovered everything along with the rest of the world.” The couple shares custody of their two children, Harper, 8, and Ford, 6.
