The eldest, Francisco, 21 years old, linked to Mônica Torres, is an assistant cook. Lucas, 23, and Louis, 19, both stepchildren, work in house cleaning services and walk dogs.
“All my children work. I have never forced them to do anything. Here in Portugal they are worth money. It is worth one euro. Francisco works as an assistant chef in a restaurant in Lisbon. I want to be a chef.’ And Lucas and Louis are looking for a place to live in the Netherlands. They want to start there as couriers, delivering food by bicycle, because they earn a lot there. I say this from a mentality point of view, of how they are approaching life, which is something I didn’t have at my age. They face life as it is: they will be insulted by their boss, they will be ignored, they will be discriminated against. The tendency of parents is to always say ‘yes’, and life itself will tell them ‘no’, and they must be prepared.”
In addition to Francisco, Lucas and Louis, Marcello is also the father of Lorenzo, 12, and Stephanie, 24. Both Francisco and Stephanie are adopted.
