The crime took place in February in a bar in Rio de Janeiro; the former Globo heartthrob admitted guilt
The actor Raphael Cardoso accepted the agreement proposed by the Rio de Janeiro Public Prosecutor’s Office last Friday, 12, and paid a fine of two minimum wages to close the case of personal injury against an elderly person. The case occurred in February of this year in a bar in Barra da Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro.

Cardoso was caught on camera arguing with employees and later beating director João Fernando Brito, 64. Days later, he admitted to the crime and expressed his regret in a statement. The former Globo heartthrob said he was “under the influence of medication,” but said that did not justify his behavior.
Under the agreement, which also gave Cardoso the option to dismiss the case by doing four months of community service, he paid R$ 2,824. The amount will be donated to an animal protection organization.
What the victim says
On Record TV’s Domingo Espetacular program, Brito recalled the incident on Sunday 14: “To this day it is the most important question of my life. What have I done to someone I don’t know and I haven’t said a single word from him to attack me?”, he said, admitting that he didn’t recognize the actor until he was informed by waiters and, later, by the police.
The victim said the actor threatened her with death, but at first thought he was joking. When Cardoso ran after him and then attacked him, Brito revealed that he was only trying to protect his groin area because he was recovering from hernia surgery.
