The presenter believed in something that went beyond earthly experience and revealed how he would like to start
In the magazine ‘Veja’, in May 2000, Silvio Santos was asked about the end of his life. “I am not afraid of dying,” he said.
“I feel inside me, rightly or wrongly, that I have had other lives and that I will have other lives,” he told SBT in February 1988.
Following the Jewish belief in reincarnation, the host believed in something beyond the earthly plane. “I know that on the other side there is something waiting for me, a new mission.”
Asked what he thought death was like, he waxed poetic. “I know it’s a deep sleep. It must be nice to sleep.”
Interviewed again by ‘Veja’ in February 2014, the presenter expressed how he would like to leave his life.
“It’s not a dream, but since I’m dying, I would like to die without going to the hospital. That’s the only thing I can hope for at 83. What can you expect at 83? Get on board anytime.
Silvio Santos died at the age of 93, on Saturday 17th, at the Albert Einstein Hospital in São Paulo, where he had been hospitalized for almost two weeks.
