The comedian died at the age of 73 after a disaster in Los Angeles

Comedian Perry Kurtz, known for his appearances on the eighth season of “America’s Got Talent” and “The Late Late Show With James Corden,” died at the age of 73 on the evening of August 15 after hit by a car in the Tarzana neighborhood of Los Angeles.

Kurtz was crossing the street at Ventura Avenue and Melvin Avenue when he was struck by a fleeing Honda Civic.

“The Honda continued eastbound without stopping, identifying itself or rendering assistance as required by law,” the Los Angeles Police Department said in a statement obtained by the Los Angeles Times.

Emergency services said the comedian died on the spot.

The alleged culprit was arrested

Hours later, Nathon Jaimes, the alleged shooter, was arrested at his home for his crimes suspect hit and ran to the scene. Further, the aggravating factor of death of Perry Kurtz.

However, the 18-year-old was released on August 16 after paying a $30,000 bond and is due in court on September 13.

Who was Perry Kurtz?

According to information from the Los Angeles Times, Perry Kurtz was originally from Philadelphia and was a comedian for 51 years.

He began his career in 1973 when he participated in a talent show in New Jersey and shortly after moved to San Francisco.

According to the Daily Mail, Kurtz kept one friendship with actor Robin Williams, for whom he opened at his shows.

Hours before his death, he posted on his Facebook profile a video of his appearance on James Corden’s show.
