Mariah Carey reportedly found out weeks before her sister died that she was ‘dying’. However, he did not look for it.
On August 26, the singer announced that both Alison Carey and her mother, Patricia, had died “on the same day” this past “weekend”.
In her statement to People, she said she was “devastated” by what happened, but didn’t elaborate.
Mariah Carey would have known her sister would die ‘a month ago’
After Mariah Carey publicly expressed her pain, Alison’s friend and carer, David Baker, assured that he was not in contact with her sister, despite knowing about her poor condition.
“No, Mariah never tried to contact Alison, not even after she was told a month ago that she was dying,” he told US Sun, which reported on Aug. 27.
“A phone call or, even better, a video call would have meant a lot to Alison, but it never came,” he said.
“And now Mariah is ‘heartbroken’ over the loss of her mother and her ‘former’ sister,” she commented referring to what the artist stated.
According to Baker, Alison “was not happy that her ‘little sister’ had cut off contact with her.”
“He talked about it often. “He was wondering if Mariah or any of her family would attend his funeral,” the relative said.
“This cruel rejection added more pain to Alison’s suffering,” said David, who says he was by her side until she left the ground plane.
He previously revealed to the newspaper that Alison was “receiving palliative care at home for the last three weeks of her life.”
Although she did not specify the specific cause of her friend’s death, she stated that “she had a problem with her internal organs.”
Mariah Carey is estranged from her sister
On more than one occasion, the “All I Want For Christmas Is You” singer has opened up about the complicated relationship she’s had with her family members, including Alison.
In her book, “The Meaning of Mariah Carey,” she wrote that her sister “gave her Valium, tried to prostitute her and threw a cup of scalding tea at her, causing third-degree burns,” according to the Mirror.
Due to the alleged abuse, the actress made the decision to leave, which she felt was “safer” both “emotionally and physically” for her.
The Daily Mail reports that Alison “was a recovering drug addict who had worked as a prostitute in New York. In 1990, he was diagnosed with HIV.”
