After the images were released, MC Ryan SP admitted the assault in a message exchange with Leo Dias’ team. In the dialogue, the funk singer acknowledged the “mistake” and asked that the video not be released, fearing the devastating consequences the case could have on his personal life and career:

“Okay, tell Leo I understand and know it’s his job. (But) This will end my career,” the singer wrote, expressing concern about the repercussions of the attack.

MC Ryan also tried to justify the request by appealing to religiosity, stating that the episode did not reflect his true personality. “I am a child of God and I know I made a mistake. In that video you see a boy who I am not,” he added.
