After two seasons, the Netflix decided to cancel “Unstable”, the comedy series hero Rob Lowe and your son John Owen Lowe. In the plot, the young Lowe was cast as the socially shy son of a successful and unstable CEO of a biotechnology company, who takes a job at his father’s research center to avoid losing control after the death of his wife.
The news does not come unexpected as the second season premiered in August 2024 and, in its first weekend, it failed to enter the platform’s Top 10with less than 1.4 million views. Things didn’t improve in the first full week, with fewer than 1.3 million viewers watching the second season alone.
How Netflix executives define which series stay and which they leave
Netflix executives value viewership far more than cost when considering whether or not to renew a series, a model that has seen more than one gem canceled long before its time, as in the recent case of “Kaos.”
Also present is “Unstable”. Sian Clifford, Branch of Aaron, Rachel Marsh AND Emma Ferreira in its second season and went through a few transformations before its return this year, as it was one of many series postponed due to Hollywood’s double whammy in 2023.
