Court closes Nahim case after police reveal cause of death

About five months after death Nahim was concluded due to ingestion of alcoholic beverages, cocaine and anti-insomnia drugs, the Court of São Paulo closed the investigation at the request of the Public Prosecutor (MP), shortly after the Civil Police had concluded that the death had been accidental.




The information was released on October 10 on the website of the Electronic Gazette of Justice of the Court of Justice of São Paulo (TJ-SP).

“Aware of the archiving promoted by the Public Prosecutor’s Office (…) the files must be sent to the archive with the usual precautions”, underlines an excerpt from the court decision.

On June 13, the singer was found lifeless in his home in Taboão da Serra, São Paulo. According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the police investigation and the expert report showed that conditions such as advanced age, heart disease and having only 20% vision contributed to the accident.

Cocaine use

At the time, the 1st Police District (DP) investigated the case as a “suspicious death,” but found no evidence of anyone involved in a possible crime. Furthermore, witnesses interviewed at the police station confirmed that the artist used cocaine “sporadically or recreationally”.
