A computer error made the last wish of Marco Paulo, the Portuguese artist who re-recorded the Brazilian idol’s hits, come true
The farewell to singer and presenter Marco Paulo, one of the most admired artists in Portugal, took place on Saturday afternoon (26th) in Lisbon. He died at the age of 79, of cancer.
An unexpected event ruined the ceremony at the Catedral da Estrela. While playing ‘Ave Maria’, the laptop that was supposed to play the song had a technical problem and shut down.
According to the Portuguese website ‘A Televisão’, the artist’s relatives and friends looked at each other in confusion. Some interpreted it as a supernatural event.
Faced with silence, a singer present in the church, Nuno Miguel, took the microphone and sang ‘Our Lady’, a song by Roberto Carlos performed by Marco Paulo, an admirer of the Brazilian idol.
The guests began a chorus in front of the coffin. The computer failure ended up creating a beautiful moment in honor of the deceased and, thus, his last wish was granted.
“When I die I want you to sing a lot. Do you know why? We will all die, but wherever I am up there, the more you sing the more I hear you from above. Don’t get tired of clapping. I like it a lot,” Marco Paulo, already weakened by cancer, said in one of his last television interviews.
“Como é Grande o Meu Amor por Você” was one of Marco Paulo’s favorite songs. In the video below, she sings “Our Lady” in a program on SIC, Globo’s partner station in Portugal.
