Sidney Magal loses his villa in Barra da Tijuca after a lawsuit


The deliveryman must receive 100% of the proceeds from the sale of Sidney Magal’s house

After nearly three decades of legal disputes, Sidney Magal he lost his villa, located in Barra da Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro. The property was auctioned for just over R$2 million, after the singer was convicted in a case that had been ongoing since 1994. The legal action arose from an incident involving the newspaper deliveryman José Alberto de Souza, who was attacked by two dogs from Magal. , a German shepherd and a Saint Bernard, in front of the artist’s residence.




The dog’s attack caused serious injuries to the delivery man’s leg, who, in an attempt to protect himself, ended up throwing himself into a sewer canal. The consequences of the accident were severe and José Alberto had to deal with recurring infections resulting from the injury.

About a year after the accident, the court ordered Sidney Magal to pay compensation of thirty minimum wages to the delivery man, an amount which was not paid by the singer at the time. With the debt outstanding, the villa was initially auctioned for R$5 million. Although Magal attempted to sell the property privately, the Court of Justice blocked any negotiations, keeping the property seized.

The sales process took years to attract interested parties, but, about eight years ago, a buyer sold the villa for R$2 million. Now the structure has a new owner, according to information released by journalist Lo Bianco.
