The controversies surrounding Ayrton Senna’s personal life have once again had repercussions on the eve of the release of the Netflix biographical series.
The troubled relationship of Adriana Galisteu and Viviane, Ayrton Senna’s sister, echoed him once again with the launch of the “Senna” series upon us on Netflix. It was never clear exactly why the host was so rejected by the pilot’s family, but a May 1996 report provided some clues.
In an interview with French weekly Paris Match, Viviane accused Galisteu of promoting herself because of her boyfriend’s death. “If he needs money, he should work, like everyone else, and stop exploiting the image of a dead person,” he said. For example, he cited photos for Playboy magazine and the book “Paths of Butterflies – My 405 days alongside Ayrton Senna”.
Without naming them, Viviane said Galisteu brought problems to the family. “I cannot mention the problems that this girl has caused our family and which has determined our position. Because if I did, I would expose some aspects of Adriane’s private life. And I have no right to do so,” he said.
Viviane also rejected the label of widow for Galisteu. “Ayrton wanted to start a family, but he hadn’t found the ideal woman,” he said, adding: “She was simply his girl of the moment, like so many others before her.”
The fact is that the work carried out by Galisteu after Senna’s death does not 100% justify the hostile behavior of the driver’s family towards his last girlfriend.
