Water shortages in Botafogo, in southern Rio de Janeiro, have sparked outrage among residents, with reports of more than 40 days without supply. During a live report on RJ1from Globo, a resident identified as Gay he vented, but ended up making a faux pas by calling the water truck a “dumpster.” Although he tried to correct it, he made a mistake again, turning the unusual moment into a meme on social media.
“We are already desperate. We tried to buy a pickup truck, but we couldn’t contact anyone”ventilated Gay. He explained that he used the water stored in the previous days for basic activities. The water supply crisis is not limited to Botafogo, affecting 20 neighborhoods in the capital and seven municipalities in the metropolitan region, impacting schools, businesses and health units.

According to the responsible dealers, the Guandu System is already operating at 100% capacity, according to Cedae. Águas do Rio reported that the supply is being normalized and promises to resolve the situation by next Sunday (1). Meanwhile, residents continue to face difficulties maintaining daily activities.
The water supply crisis in Rio de Janeiro reinforces the need for rapid and effective solutions.
