During the show “Waiting for Godot at the End of the World”which was the last production directed by Zé Celso Martinez Correathe actors Alexander Borges AND Marcelo Drummond they had an amazing moment when they shared a kiss on stage. The set, shown in Laboratory Theatrein Sao Paulo, door Borges in the role of Vladimir e Drummond like Estragon, two wandering clowns who find themselves at the end of the world, awaiting the arrival of Godot.

The moment is more than special because this show is the last production of Ze Celsus after his tragic death. How did Zé Celso die?

The playwright José Celso Martinez Correaknown as Ze Celsusdied at the age of 86 in Sao Paulo. He had been hospitalized in the intensive care unit (ICU) of the Hospital das Clínicas since July 4, 2023, after a fire in his apartment in the Paraíso neighborhood. The accident caused burns on 53% of his body, forcing him to be sedated and placed on mechanical ventilation. Unfortunately, the important artist did not survive his injuries and died on July 6, 2023.

“Waiting for Godot at the End of the World” marks the return of Alexander Borges al Laboratory Theatre after almost three decades, reaffirming his artistic partnership with the late Ze Celsus AND Marcelo Drummond.
