The HBO channel will show the documentary “The Princess” on the 25th anniversary of the tragic death of Princess Diana. The premiere will take place on August 13, it will be shown not only on television – the film will be available on the HBO Max streaming platform.

The film was directed by Oscar nominee Ed Perkins (Black Sheep, Tell Me Who I Am), Deadline told Deadline. The director decided to collect in one tape all the key events in the life of Diana. At the same time, the narrative is linear so as not to break the chronology and allow the viewer to experience these moments as if simultaneously with the princess. It is known that only archival audio and video materials will be used in the film, which is rare in modern documentary filmmaking.

The documentary was produced by Oscar winner Simon Chinn (Finding Sugarman) and his brother Jonathan. The film’s team also includes Nancy Abraham, Lisa Heller, Vanessa Towell and Anna Klein. By the way, for the first time “Princess” was shown at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year.

The last known film about Lady Dee was the feature film Spencer by Pablo Larrain, which tells the author’s interpretation of the events that took place in Sandringham on Christmas Eve 1991. The princess was played by Kristen Stewart, but her acting was considered controversial by many critics, and the created image was incomprehensible. True, this did not prevent the actress from receiving her first Oscar nomination.

Princess Diana would have turned 61 on July 1st. Read rare facts about her here, and a brief biography at this link.
