‘Oppenheimer’ Star Emma Dumont Opens Up After Coming Out as Non-Binary Trans: ‘I Lived in an Authoritarian Family’


The ‘Oppenheimer’ star said he will continue to use the same stage name, but in his personal life he plans to change Emma to Nick




Emma Dumontwho starred in the film “Oppenheimer”, recently shared a very personal aspect of his life. Identifying as transmasculine and non-binary, he explained that he will continue to use the same stage name, but plans to adopt the name Nick in your personal life.

In a recent statement, the actor highlighted that his journey of self-discovery began very early in life. Since adolescence, Dumont felt different from “other girls”, realizing this disability in relation to the gender identity assigned at birth.

“Me come out as trans It was one of the biggest challenges I have faced in my life. It was also the most rewarding, ever,” he said, adding:

“I lived for many decades in an authoritarian home where it wasn’t safe to be myself. I knew that at age 13/14 I wasn’t ‘like other girls,’ I knew I liked girls and I knew I didn’t feel well in my body.”

Career influenced the process of self-discovery

Dumont’s career was crucial to his self-discovery. About a decade ago, he got the opportunity to play a transgender character, which helped him understand and accept his identity.

“A decade later, I’ve found a safe community, discovered I’m non-binary. Now that I’ve come out, I have a life I could only have dreamed of as a child and I can still play women at work,” she celebrated.
