This week, Prince Charles, 73, and his wife Camilla of Cornwall, who celebrated her 75th birthday last Sunday, arrived on their annual three-day visit to Cornwall. This year, their presence marked a special anniversary – 70 years since Charles assumed the status of head of the region. In honor of this event, Charles and Camilla cut a giant anniversary cake in front of the cameras, visited the fishing village of Mousehole and Newlyn Harbor, as well as a number of community organizations.
However, the visit was not easy for the monarchs – right now in the UK, as well as throughout Europe, abnormal heat is raging, and the thermometers rise to record highs of 40 degrees. The pictures show how the spouses hide from the scorching sun under umbrellas and save themselves with ice cream. In three days, Camilla changed several summer outfits in light blue and blue, while Charles appeared in public in a suit of his favorite light gray.

Charles, who is famous for his sense of humor, recalled a funny moment from his previous visit to Cornwall.
I have been told that since I became the Duke of Cornwall, I have attended events in Cornwall over 300 times – and of course, have often come here on less formal visits. There have been many unforgettable moments over the years, especially the Royal Exhibition in Cornwall. Then, many years ago, a wonderful but deaf chairman, not hearing my request, took me instead of the “Bee Tent” to a public toilet.
Recall that Camilla and Prince Charles first met at a polo match in 1970, and, as they say, a connection was immediately established between them. In 1992, their romance became public. The situation was complicated by the fact that both were married: Charles was married to Princess Diana, and Camilla was married to Andrew Parker-Bowles. Camilla and Andrew divorced in 1995. In 1996, Charles also put an end to his marriage to Diana, who died a year later. The prince had to wait for time to introduce his sons to a new lover after such a tragedy – this happened in 1998. And in 2000, Camila was introduced to Elizabeth II. The couple tied the knot in 2005. From her first marriage, Camilla, like Charles, has two children – son Tom and daughter Lola, and five grandchildren aged 12 to 14.
