Liam Payne’s cause of death has been confirmed by an inquest in the UK, almost three months since he died in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
It was the afternoon of October 16 when the former One Direction member fell from the third floor, about 45 feet, from his room at the CasaSur Hotel.
On January 8, the Mirror reports that an inquest held in the artist’s home country confirmed that he died of “multiple trauma”, a term used when a person has multiple traumatic injuries to the body.
Buckinghamshire Coroner’s Court previously said at a hearing on December 17 that it could take “some time” to determine exactly how the 31-year-old musician died.
Argentinian authorities have determined the cause of death of Liam Payne
Hours after Liam Payne’s death, La Nación newspaper reported that the Coroner’s Office at Argentina’s forensic morgue had begun an autopsy on the Briton.
In their first report, experts found the “Kiss You” singer died of “multiple trauma” with “internal and external bleeding” to the skull, chest, abdomen and extremities, according to the New York Times.
The Prosecutor’s Office pointed out that, due to the position in which the body was found and the 25 wounds he had, it is believed that the singer-songwriter “did not adopt a reflexive stance to protect himself” and that he may have fallen unconscious. .
Last November, Argentina’s National Criminal and Penitentiary Office reported that the results of a toxicology test conducted on Liam revealed:
“In the moments before his death and during the period of at least the last 72 hours, he had traces of heavy use of alcohol, cocaine and a prescription anti-depressant in his system.”
For this reason, the report concluded that “all of Payne’s injuries were consistent with those caused by a fall from a height and that self-inflicted injury of any kind and/or physical intervention by a third party was ruled out.”
Three people have been charged with murder in the death of Liam Payne
Currently, five people have been charged over what happened to Liam Payne, according to Argentina’s National Criminal and Penitentiary Authority.
The hotel manager, Gilda Martin, the receptionist, Esteban Grassi, and the composer’s manager, Roger Nores, were charged with the crime of murder.
A CasaSur employee, Ezequiel Pereyra, who surrendered to police on the evening of January 6, and the waiter, Braian Paiz, are accused of allegedly supplying drugs to the star.
In Argentina, the legal process to determine responsibility for Payne’s death continues.
