The actor regretted the situation and asked fans to be careful

Brad Pitt he harshly criticized the scammers who pretended to be him and made a French woman believe she was having a romantic relationship with the actor. According to the international press Anne, 53 years old, lost 830,000 euros (approximately R$5.2 million) in the scam.

In an interview with a French broadcaster, she said she was approached on social media and, for a year and a half, the “fake Brad Pitt” sent her poems, photos created with artificial intelligence and even asked her to marry him.

After making sure she was in love, the scammers informed her that Pitt needed financial help to treat his cancer, as his accounts had been frozen during the divorce process with Angelina Jolie. Enamored, Anne transferred the money.

The case made waves on social media last week. To the British newspaper “The Independent”, the real Pitt came forward and complained about the situation this Wednesday the 15th.

“It’s horrible that scammers take advantage of the strong bond between fans and celebrities. This is an important reminder not to respond to unsolicited online messages, especially from actors who are not present on social media,” the actor said through a spokesperson.

The French police are investigating the project.
