Nassau’s Prince Frederik dies in the 22 years of a “rare diseases”

Prince Frederik de Nassau, son of Prince Roberto de Luxembourg and Julie de Nassau, died on March 1st on 22, after a long battle against a Rare genetic disease called Polg.

The news was announced by his father via a statement on the Polg Foundation’s website, an organization dedicated to the victims of this disease.

“With great regret, my wife is informed of the death of our son, the founder and creative director of the Polg Foundation, Frederik. Cousins, Charly, Louis and Donall.

In the message his father emphasized how, even in his last moments, Frederik maintained his characteristic sense of humor, illuminating the pain of farewell.

“After giving us each of us our farewells – some kind, some wise men, some teachers – in Frederik’s purest style, left us collectively with a last joke of the family.

The young prince died two weeks before returning 23, because he was born on March 18, 2002.

What is Polg disease?

At the official location of the Polg Foundation, created by the family of the late prince, it is explained to what the number of people suffering from it is unknown.

“Polg disease is a genetic disorder that deprives body cells by energywhich in turn causes dysfunction and progressive failure of multiple organs. It could be compared to the existence of a defective battery that has never been fully recharged and is in a steady state of exhaustion. The disease is unusual, so no one knows how many patients are there. But Polg research could affect everything from Parkinson to cancer.
