Tati Machado has spoken openly about the pain she still feels five months after the death of her son Rael, in the final stretch of her pregnancy. “Perinatal pain does not only concern the death of the child, but the bond and the interrupted projects. Validating this pain is essential for acceptance to truly take place”, explains perinatal psychologist Rafaela Schiavo, founder of the MaterOnline Institute.

According to the psychologist, mourning is unique, therefore it is not possible to establish a pre-established deadline for the end of the process. “What’s important is to look at how sadness affects your daily life.
