Tati Machado commented on her perception of her body and how she has faced criticism and bullying throughout her life.
Tati Machado revealed that she only began to recognize herself as a fat woman after gaining visibility on television. The Globo presenter explained that this perception arose through messages from the public, who identified with their bodies and looked for references to fashion. “I also considered myself a fat woman when I started appearing on television. When they started painting messages like: ‘I think I look like you. Where do your clothes come from? I think these clothes would fit me too’. I said: ‘Hey, wait a minute, I think there are people who are inspired by me,'” the journalist said.
The communicator highlighted that although she did not face body-related prejudice as a child, she understands the importance of its representation in the media. “I’m someone who became fat as an adult. As a child, I didn’t suffer what happens to many fat women. So, I’m very flattered when people see me as someone they represent on television. I think more people need to engage in this with me,” Tati Machado said in an interview with Terra.
Known for raising debates about body diversity on programs such as Saia Justa (GNT) and Dança dos Famosos (Globo), Tati celebrated progress in representation but warned of the risks of regression. “Where there are different organisms is also where I unite, whenever there are Brazilian brands that represent the Brazilian reality, because organisms similar to mine are the majority in the country,” he said.
