Actor reveals need for rest after intense work sequence and says he has no immediate plans in television or music
Alexander Nero, 55 years old, he revealed this on Tuesday (28), during his participation in the program Uncensoredwho has decided to take a break from his career. The actor explained that, after participating in four consecutive soap operas, he needs a moment to rest and regroup. In the final stretch of Everything is finein which he played Marcus Aurélius, Nero said he had difficulty memorizing the lines. “I couldn’t remember [as falas]. I already have difficulties and I said: ‘I’m going to collapse, I have to stop'”, he said.
The artist commented that, shortly after the end of the telenovela, he received several invitations for new works, but had to refuse. “I realized right after the soap opera, when everyone started wanting to call us for everything, that I had to say no. It’s really hard to say no, but I had to say it. I would go crazy”he stated. According to him, the intensity and pressure of the work pace were decisive factors in his decision to step aside temporarily.
When asked about future plans, Nero was direct: “No, I really needed to stop thinking.”. He reiterated that, at this time, he does not intend to resume either his acting or his musical career. The actor’s recent work includes soap operas Crossing, Sun Warriors, In Rancho Fundo AND Everything is finein which he stood out for complex characters and a strong stage presence.
In Everything is finethe plot included important twists and decisive moments in Nero’s career. His character, Marco Aurélio, even shot Odete Roitman, identified as the alleged murderer of the businesswoman. Despite the escape attempt, Odete survived and Marcus Aurélius ended up arrested. The character even faked an illness to gain provisional release, but ended the story monitored by an electronic ankle bracelet, which added a layer of tension and drama to the plot.
Additionally, Alexandre reflected on the emotional impact of playing such intense characters. He explained that continually dedicating himself to dramatic and demanding roles takes a lot out of his mind and body. “When you play complex characters and move from one soap opera to another without stopping, there comes a moment when your body and mind ask for a moment’s breath”he commented. This awareness of mental health and well-being motivated the decision to temporarily step away from artistic work.
Over the course of his career, Nero has established himself as one of the most versatile actors on Brazilian television, moving between soap operas, series and the musical stage. He also underlined that the pause does not mean a definitive closure, but rather a necessary time to reconnect with oneself, recharge energy and return with greater quality to new projects in the future.
