Comedian Tiffany Haddish (“After the Party”) spoke about the sexual abuse and child solicitation allegations made against her and her colleague Aries Spears (“MADtv”). In a post on her Instagram about her, she Haddish said she was deeply sorry that she taped the comic skits that spawned her allegations.
“I know people have a lot of questions. I understand. So do I. Unfortunately, as a legal process is underway, there is very little I can say right now,” Haddish said. “But clearly, while this skit was supposed to be comedic, it wasn’t funny at all – and I’m deeply sorry I agreed to play it.”
According to a lawsuit filed on Friday (Sept. 2) in the Los Angeles Superior Court, Haddish and Spears abused two brothers, a 14-year-old girl and a seven-year-old boy, in 2013 and 2014 respectively. They used the excuse that they would have recorded comic skits for the Funny or Die with the kids website, but the videos contained strong sexual content.
Haddish is described in the lawsuit as a “longtime friend” of the children’s mother, which would have served to build trust and also facilitate access for victims.
For the first skit, the comedian allegedly took the girl to a studio, where she and Spears showed her a video of “an older man and a college-age woman” eating a sandwich while “moaning and making sexual sounds. in a scene that simulated the act of fellatio “. At the end of the video, Spears allegedly told the victim that she “wanted her to mimic what she saw on the screen, including noises, exactly like what she heard in the video.”
According to the indictment, the girl was nervous and disgusted, which caused Haddish to approach, sit next to her and explain in detail what the girl should have done in the video. The explanation also reportedly contained details on “how to do fellatio, including movements, noises, moans and groans”.
Despite being “physically, emotionally and mentally uncomfortable,” the girl did what the comedian asked her to get home. Haddish would pay her the sum of $ 100 for the video.
In the second case, Haddish proposed organizing and filming content for the seven-year-old to help him land a role on the children’s channel Nickelodeon. At the time, the boy was accompanied by his sister. But Haddish and Spears – who was also present – took him to another room and undressed the baby, who was left only in his underwear.
So they recorded an alleged comic skit called “Through a Pedophile’s Eyes”, in which Spears was seen glancing at the baby and massaging his back. Photos from that recording would have been included in the complaint.
The skit “Through the Eyes of a Pedophile” was produced with the intention of being published on the Funny or Die website. This prompted the humorous video portal to issue a statement denying any involvement in the production of the “absolutely disgusting” video.
In its official statement, Funny of Die states that it “is not involved in the conception, development, financing or production of this video. It was uploaded to the site as user generated content and was removed in 2018, shortly after we came from it. aware of the video. your existence. “
Haddish’s attorney Andrew Brettler was adamant in denying all charges, saying the lawsuit is an attempted extortion by the alleged victims’ mother. Haddish, meanwhile, was much more polite in publishing than she was. She concluded her post of hers by saying that “I’m looking forward to sharing a lot more with you about this situation as soon as possible.”
