The actress has felt “silenced, dehumanized and paralyzed”
While the filming of the long-awaited season 4 of ‘The Boys’ continues, one of its protagonists has decided to raise her voice to the misogynistic hate received on social networks by toxic followers.
Erin Moriartywhich interprets Starlight, Annie January, in the serieshas had to deal with the negative comments made about her in networks since her character will position herself in ‘The Boys’ as a feminist banner and the #MeToo movement. The actress shared an article written by the Instagram user @butcherscanary that defended and denounced the systematic abuse received.
“The bullying feels worse given the context of her role as Starlight on the show, a silenced and sexualized woman, treated as a vase woman to be projected by others instead of a human being with her own thoughts and feelings”, says the article. “But Annie is fictional and Erin is not.. The torment doesn’t end for her when the credits roll, because there’s no off button.”
The post continues: “While I’m sure your male colleagues have endured unfair criticism, the obsession with his appearance and the degree of objectification are unmatched“.
The actress commented on the text in her own instagram: “I feel silenced, dehumanized and paralyzed. I have put blood, sweat and tears into this role (over and over and over), I have grown in the shoes of this character (*emphasis on “grown up”: we change and evolve mentally AND physically),” Moriarty wrote.
“This breaks my heart: I’ve thrown myself open for this role and misogynistic abuse is exactly what Annie would speak out against.”
Moriarty ended the post by saying, “This has only strengthened my empathy muscle and to anyone who reaches out to me: I see you, I don’t hate you, I just empathize and forgive”.

The publication has received the support of several of his colleagues in the Amazon Prime Video series, such as Jack Quaidhis partner in the show:
“I love you Erin. We are all here for you. You are such an amazing and talented force of nature and I consider myself incredibly lucky to have met you. Keep shining bright. Leave the trolls to us. we got your back.”
Anthony StarrPatriota, also wanted to contribute his comment of support (although that “you are beautiful inside and out”… You have to update the speech, Antony):
“I support you and what you say here 100%. Well said 😉 Your work on the show is and has always been stellar and you are beautiful inside and out. Keep shining.”
Season 4 of ‘The Boys’ will premiere in 2023. Before ‘Gen-V’ will arrive, the juvenile spin-off set in the universe created by Garth Ennis and Eric Kripke.
