Aline Gotschalg talks about vocal cord paralysis after surgery to treat thyroid cancer

Former “BBB 15” contestant said the paralysis was caused by thyroidectomy surgery to remove the tumor and commented on the treatment

The digital influencer Aline Gotschalgformer participant in BBB 15said he had right vocal cord paralysis after undergoing surgery to remove a thyroid tumor.

Aline shared a text in the stories of Instagram Monday 3, where she reported when she noticed the changes in her voice and what treatment she is doing after diagnosis.

“I have decided to write this text to share with you everything I have experienced,” he said. The influencer said she even started recording a video on the subject, but stressed that speaking “is a very big effort” for her.

The former BBB said he was diagnosed with cancer thyroid test in May during a trip abroad. “It was devastating. Not being able to hug my family at the time was the hardest part,” she recalled.

She also reported on the fear she felt before the thyroidectomy surgery, which was performed in early August, three months after her diagnosis.

“Even though it was difficult, I didn’t give up for a second. In fact, it was all of these feelings that really made me want to live,” he wrote.

The surgery was successful and Alice said she felt an “inexplicable” feeling of happiness after the tumor was removed. “Maybe only those who go through it know what that feeling is,” she commented.

A month and a half after surgery, the former BBB had an endoscopy which confirmed erosive gastritis of the antrum and, the next day, he began to hear changes in his voice.

The influencer started having anxiety attacks from losing her voice “out of nowhere” and, despite having undergone several tests and treatments, she was unable to recover it.

“Can you imagine how desperate it is, overnight, for you to lose your voice? It is our main means of communication and, in my case, it is my working tool,” he stressed.

He also thought the factor was “emotional”, since he had planned a trip Paris to participate in Fashion Week.

The day before boarding, however, the influencer totally lost his voice and had to cancel his trip France. “She hurt a lot. It took months of work and several people involved,” she said.

After the events, she had to get away from the Internet and take care of the “voice and emotional”. After several tests, Aline found that her cause was vocal cord paralysis caused by the surgery.

“It’s not complete paralysis, but my right vocal cord no longer ‘closes’ to the point where it meets my right and I can speak,” he explained.

The former BBB said this loss of voice is common after thyroidectomy, but what intrigues doctors, in her opinion, is the delay in symptom onset.

The influencer has undergone treatment with a speech therapist and is monitored so that no surgery is required.

Finally, Aline said she was fine, thanked her for the messages she received and asked her followers to “appreciate that they are alive and healthy”.

“If you have health, be grateful for it. Be grateful for your body and every role it plays and take care of it,” he concluded.
