Video of the Day: Teaser for Will Smith’s first film to be released after Oscar controversy

It seems that the “cancellation” of Will Smith is beginning to fade – after a public apology to comedian Chris Rock and going out with his wife Jada Pinkett Smith, the artist’s career began to recover. Recently, negotiations between the actor and streaming service Netflix resumed regarding the filming of a new biopic, and now a teaser trailer for the film “Liberation” (Emancipation), in which Will played the main role, has appeared on the network.

He played runaway slave Peter, who, during the American Civil War, embarks on a perilous journey to reunite with his family. The director of the tape was Antoine Fuqua, known for the tapes “Training Day”, “King Arthur” and “The Great Equalizer”.

The film is based on a true story. It was narrated by William N. Collage in Deliverance, inspired by photographs from an 1863 edition of Harper’s Weekly. In them, the writer saw enslaved dark-skinned men. One of the pictures was called “Flogged Back”, it depicted the back of a man named Peter disfigured by severe beatings.

The premiere of the picture will take place on December 2, although there have been rumors recently that the tape will be “held” until 2023. The movie will be available on Apple TV+ on December 9th. The film will also feature Ben Foster, Chermain Bingwa, Gilbert Owuor, Mustafa Shakir, Stephen Ogg, Grant Harvey and more. The producers were Smith, as well as John Mon, Joey McFarland, Tod Black. Executive producers include Fuqua, Chris Bryham, James Lassiter, Heather Washington, Cliff Roberts, Glen Basker.
