Another radical Bolsonarist left Joven Pan’s programming. Former volleyball player Ana Paula Henkel announced on social media that she had asked to leave the team from the “Os Pingos nos Is” program, which she participated in on Jovem Pan News.
One of the news channel’s most extreme programs, Os Pingos nos Is, also featured Augusto Nunes and Guilherme Fiuza, who were fired the day after Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva was elected as Brazil’s new president. The three have even been removed from production since before Jair Bolsonaro’s defeat on October 30, for refusing to stop calling Lula “ex-convict”, “convicted” or “not convicted”, among other pejorative names, for not have complied with the TSE guide.
In addition to spreading fake news during the elections, according to Radar Aos Fatos, the program has also contributed to reinforcing disinformation about the covid-19 pandemic, by publishing interviews with doctors who defend drugs without proven effectiveness or by criticizing the use of masks.
In a video posted on Twitter and Instagram, Henkel justified his resignation in homage to his “mentor” Augusto Nunes.
“Today I asked to be disconnected from ‘Pingo nos Is’. We had the episode of the TSE censorship, but from the election results our microphone was open and there were no restrictions. However, my friend and mentor Augusto Nunes is I was disconnected. He took me to Jovem Pan and he actually kept me on the schedule. The week he left, he asked me to stay. So I stayed, following our master’s orders. But follow the schedule without the perspective of his return is impossible. And that’s why I asked for my removal, “he added.
The announcement that “Bye Darling” became the most talked about topic on Twitter in Brazil this Monday afternoon (7/11). The expression was used as a pleasant revenge by PT members after the right used it in Dilma Rousseff’s impeachment.
The Jovem Pan group also removed three other radicals, Caio Coppolla, Carla Cecato and Cristina Graeml, but also the moderate Guga Noblat, who did not share the company’s censorship speech against the TSE (Superior Electoral Court), to protest against the sanctions due to lack of equality during the election period – in addition to journalist Maicon Mendes, who had an impartial performance in covering the 2022 election.
There are rumors of a change of course, which seeks to deprive Jovem Pan News of the reputation of spokesman for the extreme right in Brazil, to adapt to the new times with President Lula. Even so, the vehicle’s tone remains high-pitched. A week after the first cuts, network commentators continue to express support for the undemocratic protests of the Bolsonarists, many of whom use children as human shields and have escalated their violence, with attacks on federal traffic police this Monday – in stark contrast to the other Brazilian news channels that criticize coup attempts.
Today I officially requested my permanent removal from the “Os Pingos nos Is” program team. I remember my thanks and love to Jovem Pan, Tutinha, friends of the program and fellow broadcasters. Thank you for your trust in my work and for your cooperation over the past two years.❤️ pic.twitter.com/uZbPKJMTeu
