The Tony Awards introduced a new policy on dealing with potential violence on a live show just weeks after Will Smith beat Chris Rock at the Oscars.

The show’s new protocol included several other standard policies related to ceremonies and gala-related issues, including the dress code, seating, and vaccination requirements for the New York event. The letter did not comment further on the policy.

The lawsuit for the new show comes just weeks after Smith punched Rock at the 2022 Oscars, resulting in the best male actor leaving the academy following the incident, being barred from the show and other academy-related events for ten years. .

Tonys is the first major Home Award show to publicly present a new violence-free policy following the Oscars on March 27.

The 2022 Tony Awards will take place on Sunday, June 12 at Radio City Music Hall and will be broadcast live on CBS and Paramount+. The full list of nominees for the 75th Annual Ceremony will be announced on May 3. A limited number of tickets for the show will be available on the same day.
