Former BBB Ana Angélica Martins, known as Morango, surprised her followers with the revelation that she had been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. The former reality participant vented in a video posted to her Instagram this Tuesday (6/12).
“Among a series of news stories in my personal and professional life, one happened that left me with a lot of time to digest that news. In August, I sought counseling treatment with a psychologist who specializes in people with autism spectrum disorder and ADHD. He ruled out ADHD, but diagnosed me as autistic, a diagnosis of more than 20 pages,” she said.
Morango, who was the first openly lesbian to compete on the Globo reality show, said the diagnosis destabilized her. “When I was diagnosed by the psychologist, it was a shock. I cried. It was a cry at the same time of fear, of what it meant to be someone diagnosed as autistic. And at the same time it was very cathartic, it gave me a great relief, because I realized that a lot of how I function, how I deal with people, has a reason. It’s not a question of personality,” he said.
The ‘BBB 10’ member also explained his level on the autism spectrum.
“There are three levels of autism, which people also knew as mild, moderate and severe. Being a level 1 autistic means I need less support than a level 2 or 3, but I have my issues and before the law I am recognized as a disabled person, a PCD”.
