Avatar 2: Find out who returns and who debuts in the new film

Only one week left until the highly anticipated release of ‘Avatar: The Path of Water’, the thrilling sequel to ‘Avatar’. In the new story, Sam Worthington and Zoë Saldaña reprise their beloved roles of Jake Sully and Neytiri. However, now as parents who do their best to keep their family together.

When unforeseen events force them to leave their home, the Sullys travel across the vast landscapes of Pandora to finally reach the territory dominated by the Metkayina clan, who live in harmony with the oceans around them. There, the Sullies must learn to navigate both the dangerous marine world and the uncomfortable dynamic of being accepted into their new community.

In “Avatar: The Path of Water,” Cameron invites audiences on a new cinematic journey through a memorable land, reuniting with beloved characters from the first film and discovering several intriguing new inhabitants.

The Sully family

The new film marks the return of the protagonists of “Avatar”: Jake Sully, played by Australian author Sam Worthington, and his wife Neytiri, the Na’vi warrior played by American actress Zoë Saldaña. The story shows the couple going through the hardships of their familial obligations and their clan. It also features the character Kiri, the adopted daughter played by Sigourney Weaver, who is the biological daughter of Dr. Grace Augustine’s avatar, a character immortalized by Weaver and who died in the first film.

In “Avatar: The Way of Water”, the Sully family is completed by Neteyam, the eldest prodigy son played by English actor Jamie Flatters. American actor Britain Dalton as Lo’ak, the second son who desperately seeks his father’s approval and who is born with an extra toe, becoming something of an outcast of his clan; the sassy and naughty young Tuk, played by Trinity Jo-Li Bliss, who is very close to the women of her family: her mother, her grandmother Mo’at-played once again by the famous actress CCH Pounder-e his younger sister Kiri.

Finally, completing the clan is Spider (Jack Champion), a human boy who appears on Pandora as a newborn to whom the Sully children, Kiri in particular, feel a special connection.

The Metkayina clan

“Avatar: The Way of Water” introduces the Metkayina clan, led by a shamanic matriarch, or Tsahik, named Ronal, played by Kate Winslet. The role marks the reunion between director James Cameron and the acclaimed and award-winning actress since 1997’s “Titanic.”

“It was fantastic. It’s the first time I’ve worked with the same director again. This reconnection with Jim has been very special. He’s very proud of his relationship with the actors and it shows”Kate says.

Ronal is the wife of Tonowari, the Olo’eyktan of the clan played by New Zealand actor Cliff Curtis, with whom she has two children: teenager Tsireya (Bailey Bass) and illustrious young hunter Aonung (Filip Geljo). Young Maori actor Duane Evans Jr. plays teenager Metkayina Rotxo, Aonung’s best friend.

The Return of Quaritch

Audiences will witness the return of Quaritch, portrayed in his human form in actor Stephen Lang’s first film. The antagonist died at the end of “Avatar,” and now returns as a Splicer, or to adviseof your character. One to advise he is a specialized self-contained avatar that has been filled with the memories of the human whose DNA was used to create him. OR to advise de Quaritch has all the skills he had as head of the Secops, the private security force defending Hell’s Gate base, but now with the added bonus of a Na’vi corps nearly ten feet tall.

Another of the story’s returns is that of Norm Spellman (Joel David Moore), a scientist who remained on Pandora and feels right at home with his fellow Na’vi. He is joined on Pandora by Dr. Ian Garvin (Jemaine Clement), a marine biologist working for the Resource Development Administration (RDA), and Mick Scoresby (Brendal Cowell), the greedy captain in command of the colossal ship Sea Dragon.
