Starting in January, Edir Macedo’s church will take care of the production of the broadcaster’s soap operas
In addition to holding religious services, the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God will also begin producing soap operas. Starting in January, Edir Macedo’s church will take over the production of Record TV soap operas.
In practice, little changes, given that most of the channel’s productions are religious, given that Macedo also owns Record, and will continue to be produced under the supervision of Cristiane Cardoso, the bishop’s daughter. Actors, directors and technicians will also remain the same, as will the outsourced production, headed by Casablanca, to the studios in Rio de Janeiro.
The change is motivated by accounting criteria, transforming the station from a producer into a buyer of finished chapters.
Therefore, Record will pay a fixed price for the chapters. If the budget goes over, the damage is on the church. With this, the issuer reduces costs and expects to return to profit. But, on the other hand, advertisers may refuse to be associated with Universal Church branded products.
The first production within this model will be the sixth season of “Reis”.
