Missing: Actor Julian Sands goes missing in the California mountains

English actor Julian Sands, known for his work in films and series such as ‘A Window on Love’ and ‘Gotham’, has been missing since Friday night (1/13) after failing to return from a hike in the mountains of Los Angeles, Southern California. Julian, besides being an actor, is also known to love climbing.

Authorities believe he may be on the Baldy Bowl Train, a popular spot in the San Gabriel Mountains.

Sands’ disappearance comes amid heavy rains in the California region. Ground teams, helicopters and drones are scouring the region, but the climatic situation in the area hinders the work of the authorities. The search will resume as soon as the weather improves.

“Over the past four weeks, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue (SAR) teams have responded to 14 rescue missions in and around Mount Baldy,” police said in a news release Wednesday. (18/1).

“These rescue missions involved lost, isolated and/or injured hikers. Unfortunately, during these past four weeks, two hikers in the region did not survive after falling and being injured,” the text adds.

Police said the weather on the mountain was “unfavorable and extremely dangerous” amid high winds and recent severe storms across the state. “The snow has turned to ice, making walking extremely dangerous,” the sheriff’s department said.

Cassian Elwes, film producer and friend of Julian, made a heated outburst on his social networks, in the face of the disappearance: “I am devastated! Such a dear friend of the family, who was a great adventurer in everything he did. I am in prayer”.
