Writer John Mehringer, who helped write Harry’s autobiography Spare, defended the book after numerous accusations of inaccuracies and historical errors. The writer insists that “unintentional errors” are often found in memoirs, where “the line between memory and facts is blurred.”
Mehringer, who also contributed to the autobiographies of tennis player Andre Agassi and Nike co-founder Phil Knight, was reportedly paid $1 million to write the book. The author emphasized that the prince himself sometimes admitted that he was not sure of all the details that he shares, attributing forgetfulness to childhood trauma.
Whatever the reason, the memory — it’s a memory… In what I remember and how I remember it, there is as much truth as in the so-called objective facts,” Mehringer said on social networks.

After the release of the scandalous book, the media accused Harry of a variety of factual errors. In particular, in his memoirs, he stated that he was a descendant of King Henry VI, and that he was presented with an XBox even before the product went on sale. The Duke of Sussex also wrote that Meghan Markle’s father was bought a ticket for a Mexico-London flight by Air New Zealand, which does not fly and has never flown on this route.
Note that in his memoirs, the Duke of Sussex also talks in detail about the first sex, bad habits and relationships between William and Kate, as well as about the “sadistic” jokes of his father, his attempts to come to terms with the death of Diana and his relationship with his stepmother, Queen Consort Camilla. By the way, because of the scandalous book, Harry may be banned from entering the United States.
