‘I’m numb’: Brooke Shields opens up about being raped in her 20s

Last week at the Sundance Film Festival held a private screening of the new documentary “Pretty Woman” about the life and career of Brooke Shields. In the tape, the actress first spoke publicly about the rape she suffered at the age of 20 shortly after graduating from Princeton University. The movie star described the incident in great detail: Brooke was looking for a job in Hollywood and met with a certain man to discuss potential game projects. After dinner, he invited her to the hotel, assuring her that he would pay for the return taxi.

Years later, the Blue Lagoon star decided to write a letter of accusation to the rapist, but he ignored the message.

I just threw up my hands and said: “You know what, I refuse to be a victim, because this is what happens regardless of who you are and what you think you are ready for or not,” the actress admitted. “I wanted to erase it’s all from my memory and body and just keep going my own way.The system never came to my rescue.So I just had to get stronger on my own.
