Last week at the Sundance Film Festival held a private screening of the new documentary “Pretty Woman” about the life and career of Brooke Shields. In the tape, the actress first spoke publicly about the rape she suffered at the age of 20 shortly after graduating from Princeton University. The movie star described the incident in great detail: Brooke was looking for a job in Hollywood and met with a certain man to discuss potential game projects. After dinner, he invited her to the hotel, assuring her that he would pay for the return taxi.
I go up to the hotel room and then he disappears for a while,” she recalled, noting that he had returned completely naked. – He pounced on me and I began to fight. I was afraid that he would strangle me or something like that. However, I did not have enough strength for a long time. At some point, I was completely numb. I thought one “no” would be enough.

According to 57-year-old Shields, when it was all over, she left the room, went down on the bodice, called a taxi and “wept all the way home.” The actress admitted that for a long time she could not realize the very fact of what had happened and blamed herself.
I began to think that somehow provoked him. I drank wine at dinner. I myself went up to the room. I was just too trusting.
Years later, the Blue Lagoon star decided to write a letter of accusation to the rapist, but he ignored the message.
I just threw up my hands and said: “You know what, I refuse to be a victim, because this is what happens regardless of who you are and what you think you are ready for or not,” the actress admitted. “I wanted to erase it’s all from my memory and body and just keep going my own way.The system never came to my rescue. So I just had to get stronger on my own.
Pretty Woman: Brooke Shields will be available to stream on Hulu later this year.
Earlier in December, Brooke Shields and her Blue Lagoon co-star Christopher Atkins discussed the iconic film and concluded that modern society would hardly accept the film. At the time of filming, Shields and Atkins were 14 and 18 years old respectively, but despite their tender age, young people had to shoot completely naked.
