The band’s new work was recorded on a Super-8 camera; to watch
Winner of the best pop album in Portuguese Of Latin Grammy 2022with Yes Yes Yes, the Brazilian band Wish for candy launch this Friday the 27th, a special music video for the song Golden Golden. In addition to sound, the visuals are eye-catching in this work, all recorded with a Super-8 camera, from the 1960s.
The novelty celebrates the first year of the group’s debut album, bringing together images of all the members (Dora Morelenbaum, Julia Master, Luke Nunes And Ze Ibarra) together to strengthen the unity of the quartet. All work was recorded in Santa Teresa, Rio de Janeiro, the neighborhood where they live.
“For me, this is a song that represents a turning point from when we were four friends making music and living together,” reflects Lucas.
According to the artist, the idea of recording on a Super-8 was aimed at representing the “visual texture reminiscent of the sound of the band”. “This is an unassuming song, initially made in a moment of sadness [durante a pandemia]in an effort to lift the mood, and that leads to a dancing wave of vibrant colors,” she points out.
The Bullet Wish Gang
Dora, Julia, Lucas and Zé have been friends since school. The four began to attract attention after some participation in live themed social networks of the singer Theresa Christina. After these encounters, they moved together, to Copacabana, to Rio de Janeiro.
Only in 2021 did the group materialize, after an invitation to join the align Of koala party 2021, in São Paulo. However, the postponement of the event due to the pandemic led to the idea of recording the Latin Grammy-winning album.
Yes Yes Yes honors the LP tradition and, therefore, is released in two parts (sides A and B). The album has the artistic direction and musical production of Bala Quero, the co-production of Ana Frango Elétrico and the supervision of Marcus Preto, producer and artistic director responsible for the work with Gal Costa.
With the success of the album tour, the quartet, which mixes a number of references to styles such as MPB, reggae, chula, salsa, rock, frevo, among others, in lyrics full of vivacity, was present at festivals Sound Spring (Spain) e Rock in Rio (Rio de Janeiro).
This year, in addition to having the song little bird as part of the soap opera soundtrack Intersection, the group is one of the confirmed attractions at Roskilde Festival, Denmark. And it shouldn’t stop there.
“Our next steps for this year are doing shows, mainly. We still have a lot of places to go with the Yes Yes Yes, and this year is the time for that. We also have plans for a tour in Europe, in addition to Brazil and with the possibility of the United States. Traveling the world with this record is happiness without measure, a place we didn’t imagine arriving at the beginning of the pandemic, where it all began,” concludes Lucas Nunes.
