‘Pumping Iron’, the 1977 documentary, with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Lou Ferrigno, among others, as protagonists, is a benchmark in the world of bodybuilding. And now a fragment of Arnold teaching how to pose has gone viral.
Arnold Schwarzenegger, whose body fat percentage was really low in his time as a bodybuilder, used to give lessons of all kinds, training, nutrition and posing, to everyone who came near him. And in this excerpt, from the documentary Pumping Iron, by George Butler and Robert Fiore in 1977, has now gone viral.
The film’s official release poster stated, “This movie has heart, soul, blood, guts, sweat, and a lot of muscle.” And in this clip, Arnie can be seen with his sculpted torso wrapped in a bright yellow Gold’s Gym tank top as she teaches a gym buddy how to pose. “Make a line,” he tells her. Always remember that you have to hold a line. And he always looks where you point. Remember one thing when you pose, a lot of little guys hide when they pose and it should be the opposite. A big guy will go up with his arm. Never hide. Show them everything, do the full move.”
Arnold Schwarzenegger was the king of bodybuilding in the ’70s before becoming a Hollywood star in the ’80s and ’90s.
