The big fashion shows are back! While we have to wait about a month until the next Fashion Weeks, designers are “warming up” fans with local performances. Today in Monte Carlo, Monaco, the show of the Chanel cruise collection took place. From the very morning, the star guests were drawn to the scene – this time it was not a specially erected podium with unimaginable scenery, but … a beach. Yes, the models strode right across the white, fine sand while guests watched from sunbeds evenly spaced under umbrellas.
Among the guests were friends and brand ambassadors: Sofia Coppola, Vanessa Paradis, Tilda Swinton, Carole Bouquet, Caroline de Maigret and, of course, Kristen Stewart, the muse of the late Karl Lagerfeld. The actress, who recently competed for an Oscar, came to the fashion show with her fiancée Dylan Meyer. The screenwriter decided not to go to the photo call, but the locals managed to film them together on the phone.
Since the show was held on the territory of Monaco, it was decided to invite persons of royal blood – for example, the event was honored by the presence of the eldest daughter of Prince Rainier III of Monaco and Hollywood movie star Grace Kelly, as well as the sister of the current Prince of Monaco Albert II Caroline, Princess of Monaco and Hanover, and her daughter of Charlotte Casiraghi. The latter became the official brand ambassador on December 22, 2020, and in January of this year she opened the Chanel show at Paris Fashion Week, riding a horse on the catwalk (she has been riding horses since childhood).

The collection includes a lot of things from the beloved Viart tweed (by the way, we did not see it in the teaser and promo shots). Not without old-fashioned silhouettes, which, to put it mildly, changed the proportions of the models not for the better. The designer also drew a lot from their archives, such as embroidered dresses, light trouser suits, blouses, gold cargo pants and swimsuits that can also be worn as bodysuits. But viewers will definitely remember caps with “#5” patches, chokers, micro-bags and bracelets on the shoulders.
By the way, the “No. 5” patch appeared for a reason: it was during a trip to Monte Carlo in 1921 that Coco Chanel decided to release a perfume and turned to the former perfumer of the Russian royal court, Ernest Bo, for help. This is how the iconic fragrance Chanel No. 5.
