46-year-old singer Melanie Brown, better known under the pseudonym Mel B, became the owner of the Order of the British Empire. She received it the day before at Buckingham Palace during an audience with Prince William. Together with her, His Highness awarded former England coach Roy Hodgson and Paralympic athletes Chris Ryan and Thomas Young.

At the palace, along with Mel B, her mother Andrea came, who later told reporters that she was incredibly proud of her daughter. For an important event, the singer chose a tight-fitting red dress just below the knee with a barely noticeable slit on the chest. This is a dress from the brand of her friend and bandmate Victoria Beckham. The image was complemented by a fancy matching hat, gold jewelry and creamy white shoes. As it turned out later, the singer did not wear underwear under the dress:

Victoria asked if I would wear nipple covers, to which I replied that I was not going to wear underwear. I even gave up panties!

During the award ceremony, a small dialogue took place between Melanie and William. According to the singer, the prince asked for the reunion of the Spice Girls and said that this group is the property of the UK.

When I told Victoria about this, she really thought about returning to the Spice Girls. Vicki noted that she would definitely talk about it with David, – said the singer.

Mel B also noted that she and Prince William spoke about the importance of her work in the fight against domestic violence:

This is a special moment for me. It is a great honor to know that all my efforts are not in vain.

Melanie received the Order of the British Empire from the hands of Prince William for helping victims of domestic violence and charitable work. In 2019, the singer released an autobiography in which she admitted that in 2014 she tried to commit suicide due to physical and emotional abuse by her husband, which lasted 10 years. She divorced Stephen Belafonte only in 2017. She dedicated her Order to all victims of domestic violence.

When I learned that I had received such an honor, I immediately thought of all the women I had met over the past few years. About women who have gone through hell, about women who have died, about women who are still suffering. For me, it was all about them. When I read the letter in which I was invited to the palace, I realized that I actually did something important for women, Melanie told The Sun.
