The designer and painter Anna Tejklová has many great successes behind her. For the Man of the Year 2022, she made an impressive narrative national costume, which Dominik Chabr wore to an international competition Man of the year 2022, which took place in Bali. Dominik won the competition and the costume appeared again in the current collection of designer Anna Tejklova called TOTEM. The costume is decorated with national symbols, such as the lion, the Moravian-Silesian eagle and hand-painted ornaments. The costume is inspired by the peak of Czech Gothic during the reign of Charles IV, specifically the Chapel of the Holy Cross in Karlštejn.

However, we could see much more in the TOTEM collection. For example, Eliška Bučková in a hand-painted dress with feathers or Karolína Kokešová in an elegant one-shoulder model. The winner of Man of the Year 2020, David Kremeň, or the exotic model Asya performed as a dangerous Red Riding Hood with a telescopic baton on the catwalk as a punk tough guy with a boxer on his hand. The collection was a success with the audience. The designer is greatly supported by her sister Michaela, who also participates in the creation of the ANNA ANNA brand.

All models are hand-painted, except for one, which was a fabric print from the designer’s own painting. A little punk, a little elegant and sensual collection was underlined by various details that make the collection what it is.

“My intention is to arouse emotions, energy, joy in life and the strength to fight with it in people,” the designer explains why at the beginning of the collection the following words sounded from the loudspeaker: Indigenous peoples believed that evil spirits and demons would be lost in ornaments, so they decorated themselves and their clothes with ornaments. We all struggle with our demons all the time. Detach now from superficiality, from your masks. When you won’t be afraid.

The designer used a combination of several different materials in the collection. However, she stuck to the basic black, red and white shades of color supplemented by hand-painted motifs. Style and elegance combined with a more dominant image of some models gave dresses, skirts and blouses the appropriate flair.
