In 2019, fashion designer Alžběta Vlášková bought the company Ema Písek, which had been involved in the production of women’s clothing since 1992, and made the necessary innovations to create the EMAwomenswear brand. Part of the original production remained here, especially more permanent models for already seasoned customers. To appeal to new customers, she designed and is still innovating new modern cuts. However, it all started a few years earlier, when the young Alžběta Vlášková graduated from the high school of clothing industry in Prague, followed by a two-year study in Pilsen at the Ladisalva Sutnar Institute of Art and Design, major. fashion designer. She then completed her university studies at the Technical University in Liberec at the Faculty of Textiles, majoring in fashion and clothing design.

“While at school, I worked at Jitex Comfort s.r.o. in Písek as a seamstress and embroiderer. I worked as a knitwear designer/technologist at the underwear manufacturer MOIRA a.s. At that time, I also started a business and sewed to order. For a while, I worked as a technologist and designer for Dragonfly s.r.o. and after much thought, I completely stood on my own two feet.” describes his practice and the path to independence Alžběta Vlášková.

A wide selection of plus sizes

The target group of the current EMAwomenswear brand is women of various ages, for whom the brand also offers products oversized up to No. 64, which are very popular. The owner and designer is constantly expanding the range and uses social networks to reach as many customers as possible.

Custom and serial sewing

EMAwomenswear offers not only fashion pieces under its own brand, but also custom and serial sewing for other companies. The services include cooperation on product development from design through the production of cuts to the actual sewing of samples and then production in smaller or medium-sized series. These services are already used by several established brands on the Czech market. Production takes place in our own sewing workshop and gradually expands with the growth of the company.

Post-pandemic expansion of production

The development of the company was greatly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, which, as part of state restrictions, almost interrupted the production of women’s clothing for retail sale. Nevertheless, Alžběta Vlášková did not give up and created an e-shop Emawomenswear.cz on which she continued to offer her products and at the same time devoted herself to sewing as many necessary masks, especially at the beginning of the pandemic. The company overcame all initial difficulties and almost a year and a half of restrictions and is now slowly but surely expanding, both in terms of employees and modern sewing machines.

Now the owner of the brand, Alžběta Vlášková, has higher goals than until recently – building a stable and prosperous company, which one day she will be able to pass on all her experience and continue the company’s long-standing tradition EMAwomenswear.

“The company and entrepreneurship gave me the freedom to apply my ideas and opinions. And I almost always find out right away if the decisions are right or not. I also like the fact that it depends only on me where the company moves next. I didn’t enjoy “hiding” behind company names or owner names. As an employee, you get a set salary every month, yes, certainty is not bad at times, but in business it depends on you. We are not a large company, but we are a Czech company, and I believe that our customers will also appreciate that.” concludes the thought of the owner of the brand.
