Paris Fashion Week has always been, is and will be the “icing on the cake” of the fashion marathon. It is in the capital of France that the brightest fashion shows, the noisiest parties take place these days, and brands compete in the stardom of their front row.
Dior presented the spring-summer 2023 ready-to-wear collection last night. When creating it, the creative director of the fashion house, Maria Grazia Chiuri, was again inspired by the images of strong and powerful women. This time the choice fell on Catherine de Medici – queen of France from 1547 to 1559 and consort of Henry II, who had great influence over the kingdom at that time. The images turned out to be dramatic: on the catwalk we saw skirts with crinolines, corsets, lace, elbow-length gloves, as well as a lot of floral print clothes.
From the front row, Natalie Portman, Rosamund Pike, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Shailene Woodley, Elle MacPherson, Romi Strijd, Iris Lowe and many others watched the show, which ended with a dance performance against the backdrop of scenery in the form of the walls of an ancient cathedral.
