4 things women with a belly should not wear: the opinion of a stylist

Many of us want to look slimmer because it gives us more confidence. Stylist Chi Li claims that this effect can be achieved by getting rid of four wardrobe items.

Chi Li is the founder of a site for women under 160cm, where a fashion expert shares fashion tips for little girls. However, some of his tips are suitable for anyone who wants to “shed” a few pounds without dieting or fitness.

Recently, Chi Li recorded a video in which she explained what things draw attention to the belly and therefore are not suitable for fashionistas who prefer to hide it. Here are some of the clothes and accessories included in the anti-ranking style guru.

No bags!

Some trends come and go, and in their context, the oversized style seems eternal – it’s always relevant. So many women who don’t like the way their bellies look wear “dangling” things in the hopes that it will help hide their figure flaws.

Chi Li thinks this is a big mistake. “The main thing you need to do is emphasize the waistline,” says the stylist. The oversized has the exact opposite effect, making a woman look more overweight.

Chi Li recommends going the other way – by choosing an A-line. For this, she advises wearing flared skirts or dresses and shoulder-pad blazers to visually slim the waistline: shoulders and a flared bottom.

Attention, dangerous belt!

“A belt is a double-edged sword for women with a large waistline. If you don’t wear it correctly, it will only spoil everything and visually make the figure look more massive,” says Chi Li.

The stylist reveals the main secret of using the accessory: it should be located on the thinnest part of the waist, and not on the stomach. In the case of a shapeless dress, Chi Li advises to tighten the belt at the waist, but at the same time hide it by forming folds of fabric.

When using a belt, you also need to remember that it should not be contrasting in color with other things – otherwise the belt will only draw attention to the volumes that you are trying to hide.

Straight Tees

This item is considered an essential part of the basic wardrobe, but Chi Li believes that such a T-shirt is taboo for women with a belly or a rectangular figure without a pronounced waistline. However, if one pattern is banned, that doesn’t mean you have to get rid of all the others.

Chi Li is sure that women with a belly are “shown” tops with a basque or a wrap. “They immediately draw attention to the narrowest part of your figure, even create it,” says the stylist.

Elastic waistband

Even fashion lovers want to be comfortable, but Chi Li is convinced that things with elastic waistbands should be avoided at all costs. “They look clunky, make you look larger, and can ruin the whole look,” she says. The stylist advises choosing clothes with a high waist and good fit – they can also be very comfortable.
