Winter trends 2022/23: which prints will be fashionable in the new season

No matter how much we love monochrome, sometimes we want something more creative and, as they say in Western gloss, spicy – “spicy”. The easiest way to diversify an outfit is to add an interesting print to it. But here it is important to know the measure and remember exactly which drawings will show your taste, and which ones are better to forget about. We show which prints you can definitely trust!

Unlike clothing styles, there aren’t as many key fashion prints, and they alternate, replacing each other season after season. Do you remember, for example, how in the film The Devil Wears Prada, Miranda Priestley cracked down with disappointment: “Flowers? In spring? What originality? Indeed, floral motifs appear regularly in the spring collections. And winter ones, like this year. But does that mean you can just choose a floral dress and wear it all year round, hoping for compliments from familiar fashionistas?

Not at all: the prints change a little, slightly deviating from the canons, and it is by such details that you can understand a real fashionista. Check out our little cheat sheet on the fashionable prints of the coming months and the nuances to take into account to be in trend.

Flowers

Let’s start (or rather continue) with a floral ornament. Marks from Richard Quinn to Dries van Noten suggest wearing big buds as a bright accent. And don’t be afraid to overdo it: dresses and skirts completely strewn with flowers are in fashion, and choosing pastel shades is not necessary. The main thing is that a modest monochrome, for example, plain golf or boots, should be adjacent to such elements – then the harmony of the image will be maintained.

Animalist

It is unlikely that a year will come when predatory footprints will not show up at all. Designers resort to it regularly, rethinking the patterns for leopard, tiger, giraffe and zebra. We particularly like the last option: the black and white color mixes easily with the basic wardrobe, but the print does its job and cleverly twists your look.

Bridle

And here the classics have caught up with us again – a strict goose foot will not let you down. Although not, a puncture can occur if you take the “Chanel” print too seriously. In the 2022/2023 season, it is fashionable to combine this geometric pattern with juicy shades and unusual styles. A straight-cut houndstooth jacket is definitely a staple in your wardrobe, but why not give it a boost with a mini, a man-shouldered jacket or a hot pink coat? In addition, this technique quickly rejuvenates the image!

punk cage

That’s right, not just a cage, but its punk version, i.e. contrasting, rich, dramatic, often using black. The aesthetics of grunge and punk remain predominant this year, so the creators again play on contrasts and try to subdue this style a little with straight lines. The combination is incredibly spectacular – Vivienne Westwood is thrilled!

Try to associate this print with the preppy style: mix checked tweed skirts with oversized shirts, checked coats with ankle boots, jackets with wide belts. Oh, if we went back to school now, we’d be superstars!

“broken” geometry

And if you’re still afraid to introduce bold and unconventional prints into your wardrobe, we have great news: mixing mismatched patterns in winter 2022/2023 is trendy! Ethnic with geometry, flora with tie-dye and straight lines – there are plenty of options! You can start by adding a peacock stole to a monochromatic look, and then, you see, you’re already wearing an ethnic sweater with a floral print bag. We’re starting small – and there, believe me, you’ll whet your appetite for trendy experiences!
