5 things stylists themselves don’t wear after 50: a true confession from a fashion expert

No one can forbid you to wear the clothes you love – at any age. But the truth is that we change our fashion preferences when we move from one age “era” to another. Fashion expert Nancy Quinn shared her list of clothes and shoes she stopped loving after 50 years – and received dozens of identical responses!

There is a saying in English: “At 20 you dress for others, at 40 you dress for yourself, and at 60 you realize that no one has ever judged you on your clothes.” This sentence makes sense, however, we sincerely advise you to dress at 20, 40 and 60 years old. Girls who love their look and know how to express their mood with clothes can be seen from afar! They shine with confidence and look stylish even in the simplest combinations.

Speaking of simplicity, by the way: personal stylist Nancy Quinn admits that as she got older, she really learned how to create the most stylish looks from the basics. If earlier she liked to experiment with feathers, sequins, prints and other fashionable elements, then after 50 she was imbued with straight silhouettes and minimalism – by the way, sometimes it looks more expensive than prints of creators.

And, judging by the reviews, many fashionistas who celebrated their 50th birthday agree with Nancy: she got rid of some categories of clothes and shoes, but did not stop having the looks elegant and fresh. So Quinn reveals that she stopped wearing…

  • high heels and uncomfortable shoes. Indeed, if shoes do not bring joy, why do you need them? Nancy is sure that you should not torture yourself for even the most beautiful pumps, which look great in the photo, but give an unforgettable feeling of corns and swollen legs. The best decoration is your confident walk!
  • clothes for once. Why fill your closet with disposable finds? Even a dress for the New Year should be chosen so that you can wear it later at other parties;
  • things other people have approved of. Gone are the days for a stylist when she takes a friend shopping and waits for her approval. Also, according to Nancy, you shouldn’t wear dresses that your boyfriend wants to see on you, or a jacket that everyone is renting – if you yourself are cool in such clothes and wouldn’t have bought them. without someone else’s insistence, then you shouldn’t leave them. Let your wardrobe contain only what you feel like trying on again and dashing off in front of the mirror;
  • “third” accessory. Nancy noticed that the third in a row usually wears a pendant or a watch, which can be completely dispensed with, leaving, for example, earrings and a bracelet. The excessive desire for “decoration” weakens over time and allows outfits to look more elegant;
  • super trendy stuff. If before Quinn was happy to try on the hottest new items of the season in order to at least try them, then after 50 years she stopped doing it. For example, designers are obsessed with purple, but this color does not suit the stylist, which means that it will not be in the wardrobe, whatever experts advise.
