Choosing the right makeup is difficult, so how to proceed? And what is good to know before buying? It is necessary to follow the basic rules.
- Your expectations vs. reality
- Skin type
- Daylight is a friend
- Skin undertone
It may sound simple, but it’s not as easy as it may seem. Each of you has some expectations of what the makeup should look like, the smell, what the covering properties and the price should be. All of this is important, but more important is your skin type. If you have sensitive or dry skin, forget about dense and clogging makeup. Unfortunately, you will not find many quality brands in drugstores, so it is better to go to specialized stores.
It is also important whether your skin has acne, scars or other imperfections. In the case of acne oily skin, it is good to look for a specialist so that you do not hurt yourself any more. Always apply makeup on a cleansed face with a cream, preferably with SPF protection, before applying.
Daylight as a helper
Always try on makeup in daylight, fluorescent or dim light distorts a lot, so you may make the wrong choice. Where to test makeup properly? Do not try it on the wrist, this is a common mistake, it is best to try it on the neck, the edge of the jaw or on the face itself. Choose the shade that most closely resembles your natural skin when applied.
Your skin undertone
The last, albeit very important, role is played by your skin undertone. If you do not choose correctly, makeup will not look natural on you. We each have our own skin undertone and it doesn’t change even with a tan or season.
Cold undertone – is typical for porcelain skin, which has pinkish to bluish shades. These are mostly women with pale skin, and the blue, silver, pink and purple colors suit you best. If you have this skin undertone, then choose makeup marked C (cold).
Warm undertone – if you are a rather warm type, you have orange to reddish skin. On the contrary, from the cold type, you can look for gold jewelry, strong orange and red colors or other warm shades and get a light tan. You will find the designation under the letter W (warm).
Neutral undertone – this is a mixture of both, you tan well, but your skin is neither cold nor warm, it is rather olive. It is well distinguished by the green-blue veins on the wrist. You will like most color scales, but choose makeup with the letter N (neutral).
Popular makeup brands
